New York State Standards Addressed:

Standard 1: Analysis, Inquiry, and Design

Students will use mathematical analysis, scientific inquiry, and

engineering design, as appropriate, to pose questions, seek

answers, and develop solutions.

Goals:

  Students will understand the importance of statistics.

  Students will be able to display their data clearly.

  They will understand why different groups offer different responses.

  They will see different areas of real life where statistics is in motion.

  Students will be engaged in learning, in a different style, why statistics exist.

Suggestions:

  40 surveys might be a lot you may want to have students not survey so many people.

  Maybe limit their choices. Sometimes when they have so many options itís hard for them to make a decision.
